A simple rotational spring model for laterally loaded rigid piles in sand

چکیده
Monopiles are the most popular foundation for offshore wind turbines. These foundations typically have a low length to diameter ratio and undergo rigid body rotation when subjected lateral load. This paper presents results from an extensive numerical investigation involving 3D finite element analyses demonstrate that moment-rotation response of monopile in sand can be represented using single non-linear rotational spring located at depth about 0.75 times pile embedment. Expressions elastic stiffness under very rotations developed these combined with observations measured variations stiffness, supported by analyses, used develop simple approximate expression determine monotonic load sand.

Laterally loaded rigid piles in cohesionless soil
In this paper, limiting force profile for laterally loaded rigid piles in sand and is differentiated from the on-pile force profile, from which elastic-plastic solutions are established and presented in explicity expressioins. Nonlinear responses of the piles are characterized by slip depths mobilized from mudline and the pile-tip. At the states of tip-yield and rotation point yield, expression...
متن کاملA Continuum-Based Model for Analysis of Laterally Loaded Piles in Layered Soils
An analysis is developed to calculate the response of laterally loaded piles in multilayered elastic media. The displacement fields in the analysis are taken to be the products of independent functions that vary in the vertical , radial and circumferential directions. The governing differential equations for the pile deflections in different soil layers are obtained using the principle of minim...

A large scale experimental program using vertical and batter model piles in sand subjected to pull out loads has been carried out in a model tank of size 1m x 1m x 1m. Mild steel pipes of varying diameters, lengths, and shapes are used as model piles. A poorly graded river sand having specific gravity G= 2.67, Uniformity coefficient= 3.53, emax = 0.81, emin = 0.54 has been used as foundation me...
متن کاملStructure of some sand piles model
spm (Sand Pile Model) is a simple discrete dynamical system used in physics to represent granular objects. It is deeply related to integer partitions, and many other combinatorics problems, such as tilings or rewriting systems. The evolution of the system started with n stacked grains generates a lattice, denoted by SPM(n). We study here the structure of this lattice. We rst explain how it can ...
متن کاملStructure of Stable Sand Piles Model
In this paper we study a variant of the Sand Piles Model, where the evolution rule consists of the falling down of one grain to a random column and an avalanche to reach a stable configuration. We prove that the infinite set of all stable configurations have a lattice structure which is a sublattice of Young lattice. At the end, based on a discussion about avalanches, we construct a generating ...
